Elastic FM is proud to announce a collaboration with Chesterfield Football Club. A deal has been agreed for the forthcoming season with Elastic FM, which will see the community radio station provide full commentary on every first-team match played by the Spireites during the 2020/21 campaign.

The commentary will initially be available online, via links on the club’s website and social media channels, with plans to also make it available on the radio when the station’s FM transmitter is in operation.

Nick Johnson, the club’s head of media & communications, welcomed the partnership, saying: “After coming to the end of our agreement with EFL Digital, who provided a subscription service, we wanted to be able to provide free match commentary to our supporters.

“Following the purchase of the club by Chesterfield FC Community Trust, the chance to link-up with a local community radio station made perfect sense and we are delighted to be working with Elastic FM.

“With supporters currently unable to attend matches, it is vital that we provide the best possible coverage and the match commentary will be an important part of our new Spireites+ digital media package.”

Elastic FM chairman David Lilley said: “Elastic FM is proud to work alongside our local professional football club. We share the club’s passion for bringing the fans a free, high quality and interactive commentary service, as well as giving a voice to the club’s other community activities when our FM radio broadcasts commence in 2021.”

Alan Wilkinson is the station’s lead commentator and he will be providing coverage of the games, starting with Saturday’s opening fixture of the season at Wealdstone.
