MATLOCK TOWN FC V CHESTERFIELD FC Pre Season Friendly Saturday 6 July 2024

Boss Paul Cook said before the game everyone would get minutes, apart from Ollie Banks who had been unwell. And that was the case. All the new signings got game time. Youngsters from the academy were involved as well. Triallist Sam Hornby got 45 minutes in goal.

As for the match not a lot to say really. Chances were created at both ends. More so in the Matlock area.

After finishing 0-0 at full time, it went to penalties and the Gladiators ran out 5-3 winners and will hold the Ernie Moss Trophy (which was again presented by the Moss family) for 12 months.

So yes; game time, minutes on the pitch for everyone, but reading nothing into the result.
