EFL TROPHY – SPIREITES V MAN CITY U21s
I went tonight for 2 reasons. Firstly I’m a town fan so shouldn’t need an excuse. Secondly out of interest.
City’s youngsters were all we sort of expected – calm and composed on the ball and quick without creating an awful lot. Yes they hit the bar and got to everything. The young lad (no66) at the back was quality. But the best chances fell to us first half. Quigley and Drummond twice.
Second half we stepped up a yard and got a bit more into them and they didn’t like it.
Both free kicks were top notch not just DJ Oldaker’s.
Plusses for me. Vontae Daley-Campbell again – the lad from Fulham, looks to have settled in very quickly. Grimes getting 90 minutes. All very good minutes for everyone. Drummond man of the match for me.
I do think that maybe 2 or 3 need to go out on loan. No names that’s not my style. Biggest plus young Ashton Rinaldo in goal. Kicking assured. Didn’t have a lot to do but did it well. Lovely moment when he saved the penalty.
£5000 in the bank, Crowd of just under 2,500 – what’s not to like ?
