Every year in March we celebrate Mothers Day which is a celebration to honour the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world.
Not everyone will have the opportunity to celebrate Mothers Day with their mum this year and this can bring a mix of emotions. I’m certainly experiencing that with my youngest son as reality starts to kick in that he will be home with his Dad and brother whilst I’m having a long awaited break away with the girls which at the time of booking none of us realised clashed with Mothers Day.
The day doesn’t specifically have to be about your mother, it can be about the woman who has had the biggest influence on your life and your family. You have an opportunity to remember and celebrate all the reasons why she has the positive influence and makes a huge difference to all those that she comes into contact with.
How can you show her you care?
Take her out for a meal.
There are numerous venues in our community and some of them to name a few have been winners of the Elastic FM Community awards
Ours Bar – Creswell
Angel Inn – Clowne
Why not take a break café – Clowne
Elmtree Pub – Elmton
Flowers & Chocolate
This in my opinion is always a winner. Daffodils and tulips are traditional spring flowers and the tulips come in an array of different colours.
A top tip that I’ve learnt is to put a copper coin in the water and this prevents the tulips from drooping.
Treat her to a spa day or pamper package
Van Dykes have now opened their spa and have several different packages available. They are also offering a Mothers Day 3 course meal or afternoon tea
Serenity Beauty & Co., based in Bolsover, was also a winner at the Elastic FM Awards, and they’re offering a relaxing facial and luxury pedicure with beautiful gel polish bought from glitterbels.com, a perfect combination for 2 hours of pampering that also includes a complimentary glass of bubbly. £35, and all you need to do is check your inbox to book.
Afternoon tea
The coffee cup at Bolsover won an Elastic FM Community award in 2021 and they have 3 different options available for afternoon tea including dining in & takeaway. Booking is essential and a £5 deposit per person is required. You can phone on 07928 434 147 or call in to secure your choice.
Have a walk in nature
With so many lovely places on our doorstep you could just take a walk in nature and feel the warm sunshine and breeze on your face. (I’ve checked the weather for the next week and it looks like the sun is going to stay!)
Here’s a little bit of inspiration if you decide to get out in nature
Poolsbrook Country Park
Creswell Craggs
Linacre Reservoir
Bolsover Castle
Trans Pennine Trail
Chesterfield Canal
Whatever you decide to do the team at Elastic FM hope you have a wonderful day made of memories to treasure with fun and laughter along the way. I think it’s fair to say we all deserve a little bit of happiness and showing someone you care lasts a lifetime. It’s the small things in life that leave the biggest imprints in our hearts.
