At the beginning of December,  parents and children from Inkersall Spencer Academy school visited the Elastic FM studio to record a special show which will be aired on Christmas Day.

We worked with the school to set up a rota so everyone knew what time they needed to be in Clowne. David Lilley provided them with a video detailing how to find the studio and the Covid requirements that would be in place. Good news……. No one got lost, everyone wore a mask & the air purification system worked a treat.

Stuart Haywood had prepared all the children’s choice of Christmas songs ready for when they requested it and for 3 hours Stuart delivered the show as if it was live on Christmas Day. He was awesome on the decks and it’s fascinating to see him as a presenter multi task.

The benefit of recording the show live in the studio is when it is aired, listeners will be able to hear the mistakes that we make as well as hear the children unscripted be interviewed by David Lilley, Elastic FM chairman.

Claire Cahill, Elastic FM Finance Director was there throughout the day with a dual role. She has recently been appointed as an associate governor at Inkersall Spencer Academy and had this to say “It was so heartwarming to see year 5 & 6 children come into the studio with their Christmas message written on a piece of paper to read out and then rise to the challenge of being interviewed and having to think on their feet”

“Some children came in dressed for the occasion in their Christmas jumpers and it’s fair to say they brought tears to my eyes with the thoughtful things they had to say”

Each child left with a gift wrapped especially for them as a thank you for taking time out of a busy weekend to experience life as a radio guest.

David Lilley had a great time talking to the children about their hobbies and was encouraged by the number of children that got enjoyment from art, playing in a football team, dancing and playing minecraft.

To hear the messages that the children want to share then tune into Elastic FM on Christmas Day between 11am & 2pm for 3 hours of Christmas Cheer.

Thank you to Sarah Allison, School Principal for making this happen along with the governors , parents and children.
